This year I am running the Great South Run for Portsmouth Hospital Lymphoma department (and young people with cancer).

Last year, a team of incredible doctors, specialists and nurses saved my life when I was diagnosed with two difficult types of Lymphoma, WM & DLBCL. For those that don’t know, Lymphoma is the fifth most common cancer, and it can affect the blood amongst other things.

I cannot thank this department enough and I wouldn’t be here today without them.

After finishing my treatment in December, I was inspired to give back and raise some money for them. I have completed the Great South Run a few times before and this time it will most certainly not be easy as cancer can take its toll!

I am also determined to show how important exercise is during a cancer journey. This time last year, I didn’t know if I would ever be able to do activities like this again, or even be around to try. Because I am, it is a testament to the wonderful lymphoma team who are truly incredible.

I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for me as I know I am one of the lucky ones. What they do for those effected by lymphoma is mind blowing so I hope I can make them proud and make a difference in my own small way, much like they do every day.

I want to show these wonderful people that the work they do is making it possible for people like me to make new memories and live life again, which wouldn’t be possible without them.
