The Charity and the Department of Critical Care would like to say a big thank you to Rob Packer for raising £8,115 for the department.

Rob was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the 13th of June with a severe infection which caused a number of his organs to fail.  12 days later he was finally well enough to be discharged back to the ward.  As he started to improve and underwent physiotherapy and rehabilitation on the ICU, he noticed that having more specialised equipment would be of benefit to both staff and other patients.  So once fully discharged from hospital, he set about raising money for the department, and using his own ICU experience as well as his Navy background, he knew exactly what was needed!

Fast forward to now, and Rob, his family and friends have raised the incredible total of £8,115 with the final boost being a charity lunch in aid of the department organised by Rob and the Havant Rugby Club at the beginning of December.

So far, amongst other things, we have bought a specialised wheelchair which will make it easier to mobilise patients on the ICU and take them for trips outside as part of their rehabilitation.  We know that rehabilitation after having been so unwell on critical care can take some time, so we are all really pleased to see how well Rob has done, and extremely grateful to him and his team for raising this money which will help us to support other patients who come to Intensive Care.
