I am running because the staff at Queen Alexandra saved my husband's life. He was suffering from HLH, which took a few days to diagnose because it is quite rare, but he has made an excellent recovery since.

He was in hospital for just over a month and stayed on 4 different wards (not including A&E where he spent the first day) so it didn't feel right raising money for just one department as he was looked after so well everywhere - and the care he received after leaving was excellent too.

We got to witness how hard hospital staff work, faced with so many decisions to make all the time, sometimes having to deal with difficult patients, never without a smile or a kind word; so, I wanted to give something back by raising money for the staff wellbeing fund. My husband might not have been there today if it wasn't for them and we owe them a debt that we can never repay, but I hope the money raised can go a little towards helping.
